“We need an oolong from lower altitude, so many requests about it.” Service department seriously urges me as I walked in.
Not the first time, actually, dozens of time I’d been informed,
but decent teas aren’t found in a hurry.
“Not good enough.” I stepped out another tea shop,
disappointed at this fourth trip at Sonbo Hill in a week.
Driving up the mountain road frustrated, I didn’t notice how I got lost,
“where the hell am I?” panicking at the back and forth navigation, a passer-by would be like an angel.
“Excuse me madam, could you show me the way downtown?” I was relieved seeing this elder lady.
"Turn around! Down-town is the opposite direction, you are now heading towards my home, ha!"
oh, a kind one. “Thank you madam! You live alone?”
I regretted those words, weird enough to make her think I’m after something…
“My son and his wife grow teas there!” She happily replied, thank god.
“May I try some?” another sentence rushed out before I gave a second thought.
“Exquisite!” Golden Daylily and Green Jade colliding in my mouth,
this tea has jasmine and cream fragrance combined elegantly while the essence of alpine tea remains.
Last but not the least, I cheered at this representative of Sonbo Hill.
Though it wasn’t easy to earn Grandma Lee and her son Mr. Lee’s trust at the beginning,
after a few months none-giving up on this tremendous tea pursuit, they nodded at me marketing it into a greater world.
Never underestimate the importance of Product Differentiation,
that’s why I deeply memorize the taste of this tea:
a transparent gold soup from lightly baked & semi-fermented art, worth of months insist.
In the deep hill of Sonbo tea region,
works of tea-makers and tea-machines have strengthen the historical field,
strengthen local people’s belief in tea.
It took time to earn Mr. Lee’s trust since most buyers purchase in bulk at a cheap price then sell to retailers;
however I demand smaller amount once at a time for tea freshness,
direct to our customers removing all the vague profits.
I’d love to share how our teas are treasured from mountain top to each city,
how the beautiful tastes touch each person;
with strict seasonal examination I’m proud of,
I carry such responsibility from sharing,
like the morning dew never stops watering the red soil of Sonbo Hill,
to the world we present GOLDEN DEW OOLONG,
the duet of Golden Daylily and Green Jade.
